EDITORIAL

Welcome to HEART AND SOUL 2.  It's hard to believe that it's been over a year and a half since the first edition of this zine was published.  I'm not sure how many more of these I have in me, but for the time being there's no shortage of ideas that I'd like to explore.  I hope you keep wanting to read this stuff as much as I want to keep writing it.

There's more sex in this edition of HEART AND SOUL than in the previous one, helped along primarily by the presence of two established relationship stories.  In attempting to please those who wanted a more physical expression of the Starsky and Hutch relationship, I tried not to sacrificed the warmth or friendship that is the core of their unity.  As a fellow fan once said, "whether you think they did or they didn't, the love is the same".  I hope my belief in that statement comes through in the pages of my zines.

None of the stories in this zine is a sequel to any of the stories in HEART AND SOUL 1.  However, "The General" was inspired by a thought which crossed Starsky's mind in the story "Just Love" from the first issue.  Also, the novella "Compassion's Heart" was strongly influenced by an ongoing discussion with Beth via mail about what we both wanted from a hurt/comfort story.  My thanks for her assistance in helping my idea evolve into a full fledged story.

Speaking of "Compassion's Heart", some of you may have noted the warning that was in the flyer and ads about "a few pages of graphic violence".  After reading the novella, some may question why a warning was even necessary.  I thought it best to err on the side of caution.  In any event, I hope the novella's worth is enough to offset any trepidation on the reader's part.

My standard LoC form is included at the back of this zine.  I greatly appreciate the effort made by the readers who shared their thoughts on my prior zines, and I hope those who purchase or borrow this zine will follow suit.  I am always interested in what the readers feel are the strengths and weaknesses of my stories.  Your input is my only guideline for future efforts.

Enjoy.
